General Properties

Super Duplex F55 (W-Nr. 1.4501; UNS S32760) is one of the most widely used super duplex materials available on the market. It is a duplex stainless steel specifically designed to withstand aggressive, chloride-rich environments. Unlike UNS S32750, this alloy also contains tungsten (W) and copper (Cu) additions, which enhance its overall performance.
In addition, this alloy provides very high resistance to localized corrosion and stress corrosion cracking, making it ideal for demanding applications. At the same time, it combines these properties with remarkable mechanical strength, making it a preferred choice across many industrial sectors.

Corrosion resistance:

S32760 offers superior corrosion resistance compared to UNS S32205. It is therefore highly suitable for use in chemical processing plants, seawater desalination facilities, and other severe environments.

Welding

For welding Super Duplex F55, the same methods used for standard austenitic stainless steels can be applied. These include shielded metal arc welding, TIG welding, and plasma arc welding.
It is important to note that:

  • Use of electrodes specifically for UNS S32760 is recommended.
  • Preheating and post-heating are not required.
  • Interpass temperature should not exceed 100 ℃ to avoid formation of intermetallic phases.

Heat Treatment

Super Duplex F55 cannot be hardened by conventional heat treatment. However, it can be strengthened through solution treatment or annealing, performed by rapid cooling after heating to approximately 1100°C.
