General Characteristics

Alloy 718 / Inconel 718® (W-Nr. 2.4668; UNS N07718) Alloy 718 is a nickel-chromium alloy with a significant content of iron, niobium, and molybdenum, along with small amounts of aluminum and titanium. This alloy combines hardness and corrosion resistance, offering excellent weldability without significant risk of post-weld cracking.
In addition, Inconel 718 provides outstanding strength at elevated temperatures up to 1300°F (700°C), making it ideal for demanding applications.

Applications include:

  • Gas turbines, where thermal resistance is essential
  • Rocket and aircraft engines, due to stability at extreme temperatures
  • Nuclear reactors, where materials must withstand harsh conditions
  • Pumps and tools requiring a combination of hardness and chemical resistance

Thanks to these characteristics, Inconel 718 is a benchmark material in the aerospace, energy, and nuclear industries..
